Four Mile Run Park is situated along the Four Mile Run Stream with part of the park in Arlington County and part in the City of Alexandria. The nest box trail was established in 2026 by volunteers who work on habitat restoration in the park. The park is known as a birding hotspot for both local and migratory birds. The nest box trail has had nesting tree swallows.
