Columbia Gardens Cemetery

Columbia Gardens Cemetery is a 38-acre family-owned cemetery that is also designated as a Level ll Arboretum.  Since its inception in 1917, Columbia Gardens has been a community cemetery where friends and neighbors are invited to walk the paths and enjoy the beautiful grounds. It is the final resting place for many members of the military, Arlington residents, and well-known individuals such as Senator Robert Byrd.

The nest box trail was launched in 2019 with five nest boxes. The team monitors the boxes and participates in a Spring Fling each year where they share information about nesting birds. The nest box monitors are all neighborhood volunteers who have walked and enjoyed the cemetery for years. We have had House Wrens, Carolina Chickadees, and Tree Swallows nesting in our boxes. Recently, a few bluebirds have been seen in the cemetery. We are hoping this season they will nest with us!
